Steven Yockey, the Atlanta-based playwright of last season’s brutal Cartoon, returns with an even more darkly funny look at disconnected lives. A short play cycle in five parts, Sleepy throws its characters into a nightmarish dreamscape in which reality is unreliable and time is fluid, but the fear and confusion the characters face are all too real. The interconnected stories take place in an apartment, the hotel across the street, and the intersection between them. Characters come together, come apart, come unhinged, and come to realize that they’re not as alone as they think.
Featuring Impact Artistic Associate Marissa Keltie (Measure for Measure, Cartoon, Othello) as well as Briefs’ Jessica Kiely, Measure’s Seth Thygesen, and newcomers Pamela Davis, Gabriel Ross, and John Terrell.
