The pizza pie chart below shows our projected costs for the 06/07 season.
As you can see, rent is the biggest piece of the pie. This is a cost we have no control over. Same with insurance.
Administration means photocopies, programs, tickets, etc. Marketing includes posters, postcards, and emails. We've kept our marketing costs as low as possible thanks to a keen eye for the best deals plus generous in-kind donations from printers.
Still, these costs add up to more than half our annual budget. Seems like artistic and production should outweigh rent, insurance, admin and marketing, doesn't it?
We think so too, but the reality of trying to be a fiscally responsible company means we have to be frugal every place we can. Fortunately, we've been able to find talented people who will accept what we can pay.
